Brighton hit Man Utd for four as Red Devils hit new low

anchester United entered the Premier League's record books for all the wrong reasons on Saturday evening after suffering a humiliating defeat in their away encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion. The Red Devils conceded four times in what was their penultimate game of the season, landing several unwanted records in the process.

With their quest for a Champions League place ending on a bad note, the Red Devils lined up against Brighton with the hope of adding to their bid to secure a Europa League spot for next season. However, the hosts who had nothing to play for dealt Ralf Rangnick's men a bad hand, starting with Moises Caicedo's first Premier League in the 15th minute. Four minutes into the second half, Marc Cucurella also got his first goal in the competition in brilliant fashion to put Graham Potter's side in cruise control.

In a space of 11 minutes, things went from bad to worse as Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard will add insult to United's injury with successive goals in the 57th and 60th minutes. Despite having Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani all available, United could not fashion a response to grab a consolation goal.

The result left the Red Devils in 6th place on 58 points, with the club now on course to secure their worst-ever point tally in the Premier League's history. With just a game left of the season to play, they have conceded 56 goals, the most they have ever shipped in a Premier league season. The Red Devils are also the first club to concede four goals to Watford and Brighton in the same top-flight season.
