Nations League : Italy Vs GermanyMatch Preview, Line Ups, Match Info

It is safe to say that the current state of affairs in Group A3 has not totally panned out how many fans would have expected. Although Italy are on top of the pile, both Germany and England have struggled so far, meaning that Hungary are actually in second spot. Germany's performance so far in the Nations League has raised some major eyebrows, as the four-time World Cup champions are still seeking their first win in this competition. The hosts will come into this match having dropped points in a surprise draw with Hungary over the weekend, and prior to that, also settled for one-all draws against England as well as Italy.

Die Mannschaft have not fared well at the Nations League since its inception a few years ago, and if they want to top their group, Hansi Flick's men will need to stage a dramatic turnaround at the halfway point of their group stage campaign. However, although they did struggle against Italy on matchday one, as they barely scraped a draw against a younger, largely inexperienced Azzurri side, Germany just may be able to turn things around. That is, if they can finally beat Italy in regular time in a competitive match - something that they have yet to do, as their win at EURO 2016 was on penalties after a draw that went to extra time.

Although they are on top of the table, Italy still struggle to find reliable goal-scoring opportunities up front. They were absolutely humiliated in a 3-0 loss to Argentina, and while some have dismissed it as a glorified friendly, the gulf in class between the two sides was nonetheless still apparent. That being said, Roberto Mancini's men are still unbeaten so far, with a well-earned win over Hungary and picking up draws against Germany, and most recently, England.
