New Arsenal signing Fabio Vieira speaks out for the first time after move from Porto

Fabio Vieira, the highly-rated Portuguese midfielder who—out of the blue—became Arsenal's first major signing of the summer, has spoken out for the first time ahead of his move to the Emirates Stadium.

Despite Leicester ace Youri Tielemans and Manchester City attacker Gabriel Jesus being described as the Gunners' top two priorities for the ongoing window, Arteta and Co. surprised everyone by agreeing a deal with Porto for the talented 22-year-old.

Portuguese football expert Pedro Sepúlveda of Sic Noticias broke this story on Thursday, with the player completing his medical at London Colney a day later before putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.

While Porto quickly confirmed this move, Arsenal are yet to unveil their new signing. Nonetheless, this has not stopped the player from speaking for the first time about his Premier League move.

"I was always happy at Porto but this chance is important for any professional," Vieira told the Daily Mirror.

"Playing in the Premier League won't be easy and I promise only to work, work, work.

"My agent worked on the deal between the two clubs and I accepted the deal because it was important for all parties.

"I have always watched the Premier League on TV."

Fabio, who cost the north London giants an initial fee of $37M after racking up six goals and 14 assists in 27 league appearances las season, appears to be the first of many potential arrivals at the Emirates Stadium. While the Tielemans pursuit has apparently hit a roadblock, Arteta's side remain keen on landing the Belgian midfielder as well.

Furthermore, Gabriel Jesus could arrive from Manchester City soon while the club are also targeting Ajax center-back Lisandro Martinez and Leeds winger Raphinha in what could be Arsenal's most significant summer transfer window to date.
