Borussia Dortmund considering Luis Suárez as potential transfer target

A couple of weeks back, Borussia Dortmund welcomed Sebastien Haller as the man who would fill the void left by Erling Haaland's departure to Manchester City. Due to the player's recent cancer diagnosis, the club will be forced to search for another striker before the first game of the Bundesliga takes place. The good news for them is that they might just have found their man, and he could get to the team on a free transfer.

According to a report by Sky Germany, the yellow and black side have started conversations to see if they are willing to sign another footballer to deputise up front. While some believe that it would be the right time for 17-year-old starlet Youssoufa Moukoko to step up, others believe that a seasoned striker could come in handy, and Luis Suárez's name has been thrown into the conversation.

Suárez is a free agent after his contract with Atlético came to an end, and following rumors that linked him to River Plate, Nacional, and even to Liga MX clubs, the Uruguayan could be in pole position to join the German side due to Haller's medical problem. While Suárez's wages would not come cheap, his status as a free agent would make things easier for the German club to lure him to Signal Iduna Park.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona star scored 33 goals during his past two seasons with Atlético, leading Los Colchoneros to a shocking La Liga title in 2021. Suárez has never played in the Bundesliga before, and after being one of the deadliest strikers in the world, the challenge of taking Borussia Dortmund to the next level could be tempting enough to see him joining the black and yellow team.

Negotiations between both parties are reportedly in the initial stages, but if Borussia Dortmund can hit the nail on its head and hire Suárez, the team coached by Edin Terzic would instantly become a title contender after the recent transfer activity in the league, especially the one concerning Bayern München and Robert Lewandowski's exit from the club.
